By 2040, we aim to transform medical research and regulation in the UK so that the development of treatments for human diseases can be entirely animal free and breakthroughs can be achieved faster.
We are now looking for a Science Partnerships Officer, to build our external relationships with scientific professionals on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.

This is a brilliant opportunity for a science professional with knowledge of the field of biomedical research and an understanding of new approach methodologies, to join our ambitious team as we strive to end the use of animals in research.
As part of our Science Team, you will play a frontline role in helping us to deliver vital change to the biomedical community, acting as the crucial bridge between our research and the wider research community.
Your work will play a key role in helping us to end needless animal experiments and support scientists in the UK to embrace human relevant techniques and cutting edge technologies.
The Role
As our Science Partnerships Officer, you will build a network of external research scientists and support them to make the transition toward animal free research through a combination of exceptional stewardship and practical guidance.
Specifically, you will share our comprehensive and user-friendly database of animal-free antibodies with scientists, delivering national workshops with suitable participants to promote animal-free research in defined fields.
You will support the management of our grants portfolio in line with our strategic aims, working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure we understand impact, whilst delivering communications to increase value and awareness.
Additionally, you will:
- Identify new animal-free antibody suppliers to ensure the expansion of the database
- Write up workshop proceedings for publication in scientific journals
- Provide accurate content for impact reports on our funded research
- Provide and produce resources for the Community of Practice
- Represent Animal Free Research UK at relevant scientific events to increase visibility of the charity within the scientific community
About You
To be considered as a Science Partnerships Officer, you will need:
- Experience of monitoring and evaluating projects
- Demonstrable scientific data gathering, discovery and analytical skills
- Knowledge of the field of biomedical research
- An understanding of new approach methodologies and the potential to replace animals in research
- The ability to use Office 365, CRMs and project management software to a high standard
- The ability to deliver clear and concise scientific communications to internal and external audiences
- Excellent administrative skills and ability to efficiently co-ordinate multiple projects
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline
- Personal commitment to animal protection and the aims and objectives of Animal Free Research UK
Ideally, you will have experience of working in a grant funding organisation with experience of reporting on impact.
